  • Sully new KSU beat writer?

Has anyone actually noticed anything he's written on K-State?

Mild speculation he might be the new kitty beat writer - that or it's just a temp assignment while things are slow during the offseason.

On my way to KC this afternoon, I was listening to Ketizman's broadcast and he pointed out some interesting issues.

Keitzman stated he spoke with the Eagles' sports director Kirk Seminoff and inquired as to why the new K-State beat writer was selected given his experience and background. Evidently, he is a 2005 KU grad and worked in Pocatello, ID before joining the Eagle Staff.

Second and most controversial other than being a KU graduate, is that this new K-State beat writer used to have a KU blog. Before being taken off-line, this new reporter had stated some very controversial things about K-State that from a K-State point-of-view would be very imflammatory.

I think it's kind of funny that the Eagle chose a KU grad to be their K-State beat writer, and those who live in KC are wondering the same thing. It would be no differnent for us if a Creighton guy from Omaha, took the job as the WSU beat writer.

Evidently, Seminoff is on a wait-and-see approach. See if this guy checks his KU homerism at the door when he goes to work and maintains his professionalism. We will see. But if I were a KSU guy, I'd be a little salty about this.

This hire has been a huge topic on GPC for three days now. Who knows what Seminoff was thinking but he sure has had his hands full answering emails from irate 'Cat fans.
I know Seminoff is a WSU grad, is he also a Wichita native?

Seminoff is a VERY well respected and well thought of journalist and editor who has been around a long time. I would say that if he felt this guy could do the job, then give him a chance. Putty Tat fans just love to get all up in arms. Why not just take a wait and see approach? It's funny to see them in full on melt down mode. Do you really think that Seminoff is frantically monitoring his emails like that? He's probably hitting the delete button as fast as he can. Of course every cheese puff eating internet critic thinks they can do a better job. Relax!

Anyone with or pursuing a journalism degree or career would be stupid to create or contribute to a blog where he lets his homerism and disdain for a rival shine.

One thing KSU fans can be assured of, this guy isn't that bright.

How would WSU fans react if Sullentrop left and was replaced by a Creighton grad who had edited and written a very WSU-negative blog? I'm guessing they, or any loyal fanbase, would react just as Wildcat fans have.

Seminoff knew about and read the blog and asked that he delete it. He also has, to his credit, answered every phone message and email from 'Cat fans by all appearances.

I would give the guy the benefit of the doubt before I flew off the handle about it, especially if someone with Seminoff's character signed off on it.

I suggest you read the blog before you make a judgment. It's been deleted but you can still see the posts in cache by Googling Jayhawk Lounge. Make sure you try and repress your anti-KSU sentiment when you do. Try substituting WSU coaches and athletes names for the KSU ones and see how it makes you feel. Imagine he's a Creighton grad. Then imagine there were several other well qualified candidates for the job. You may then ask yourself - what the heck was Seminoff thinking?

This guy may do just fine. We will see but it has not started well.

I suggest everyone just smoke a Super-Beasley and give the guy a chance.

Totally out of line SASO. Mike Beasley is being treated for depression and if you had paid any attention to the news you would know that. I'm not denying he has been known to like weed but that's maybe 95% of all NBA players not to mention a high percentage of college athletes. If you think some WSU athletes aren't toking maybe you should check which planet you are on.

Making fun of someone with depression is just wrong - no matter how you feel about them or their college.

This isn't a Kitty Pitty Board.

ISASO's remark was hilarious and timed perfectly.

Nice try. I don't feel obligated to let an immature 19-year-old millionaire who smoked himself into depression off the hook.
