  • Shout out to our Big Apple Residents

Was wondering if I could get a few tips/recommendations (mainly dining and sights to see at night) for an upcoming NYC trip from our Big Apple area residents. I should point out this is a business trip during which I will be working some decent hours (tied up until 7PM). I will be staying in Jersey City across from the PATH station. So if you have any dining recommendations along the JC waterfront area that would be helpful. Last year I walked past China town but had no idea where to stop. I’d also be interested in any Little Italy recommendations you may have. Someone told me I should take the PATH train up to Hoboken. Is there much to see up there? Any words of advice would be appreciated.

Hoboken is a nice little town; however, it is mostly bars – which, of course, means bar food. If you want I can recommend a couple restaurants in Hoboken (my in-laws grew up there) – just let me know. And yes, you should use the PATH train to get there – it is a short trip. I have no idea about the Jersey City waterfront.

With regard to NYC (which, in my judgment, is where you should spend your hard earned cash) – – don’t focus on the area if you are more concerned about the quality of the restaurant, unless you have to be there for whatever reason. What kind of food do you want and what is your budget? The possibilities, as you can imagine, are endless.

By the way, Chinatown and Little Italy have practically merged. I don’t know Chinatown restaurants well; however, if you want authentic Chinese food – look to see if the local Chinese population is patronizing the joint. As for Italian – little Italy is fairly touristy – so the bang for your buck is not there.

Unfortunately, I can only check the site intermittently for the time being but you can PM me with specifics (or just post here) and I would be happy to provide you with some recommendations – after you narrow your preferences down a little. Let me know. I’ll try to check back tomorrow – no promises – but I will try.

I'm not usually into theatre; however the Lion King and Wicked are both excellent Broadway shows.
