  • 2009 US Open at Bethpage Black

I don't know how many golf fans are on these forums but I thought I would start a thread for the US Open. Should be a good Open, the fans are crazy in in New York. Tiger is coming off a dominating last round and The Memorial and if he can drive the ball that well he will be hard to beat. Another person I am looking for is Geoff Ogilvy. He has the game to win another major it just seems he has one bad hole on his round where he might make double or triple bogey. Phil is coming off a layoff and a poor performance (from Phil standards) at the St. Jude Classic. I look for him to be in the chase as well. Can't wait for it to start!

Edit: Woops forgot to mention that Phil;s wife has cancer and she says she wants the trophy in her hospital room. This will get played up so much by the media so be prepared.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Don't forget former Shocker Ryan Spears, who is in the field as well.

Ahh....I knew when I looked at the field Ryan Spears stood out at me but I couldn't remember why.

I love the U.S. Open. It officially kicks me into golf watching mode.

Me too. The Masters is nice but it is kind of Isolated as far as big tournaments around it. From now on we have tournaments like AT&T National, British Open, Wachovia Championship, and the PGA Championship. Tiger tees up early tomorrow which sucks because that coverage is on ESPN and I don't have cable.. :( :(

Ryan birdied the 2nd hole and is -1 through 2.

Great start for Ryan, but he'll probably have to collect his thoughts in the clubhouse as the rain is really starting to come down.

Tied for the lead, I understand. :good:

Yes, leader in the clubhouse. Granted it's a rain delay and he's only played three holes, but it's pretty cool to see his name on the leaderboard tied for the US Open lead.

The weather here blows. It has rained 12 of the last 14 days. I think we've cracked the 80 degree mark about 5 times this year.

I can't wait to get back west.

It's gonna be close to cracking 100 here. I'll trade you.

His birdie putt at the second was a rocket.

                              No problem.

100 degree days are what summer's all about. That and sunshine.

Although it's been comfortable for most of the "summer" here, you wouldn't believe how somewhat depressing it is to be without the sun for so many days in May/June.

Back to the US Open, did anyone catch Ryan's one-on-one interview ESPN did with him during the delay? Talked about WSU and stuff.. and the fact that he's leading after day 1..

                              Pretty cool. :posterwu:
