  • IMO TPJ is not even a single A player. I just think the guy flat out sucks, and to me Crisp was better than his numbers showed, I believes he has a 8 million team option so i doubt he will be back next year. For some reason DDJ plays out batter when he hits lead off.

    • If Bloomquist isn't playing SS I have no problem with TJ being there. He's the best defensive option we have. Neither he nor Hernandez seem to be able to hit.

Olivo - started out poorly, but is now hitting HR and driving in runs with some regularity.
Callaspo has been good this year. Excellent and patient hitter, the power came from nowhere so thats an added plus. Has played decent on the field But overall is a notch below Grudzy.

I have no complaints about Butler. Hes making Trey and Dayton look pretty stupid for not puttin him there sooner. Good building peice with Billy. I would like for him to hit for better average but we are starting to see that gap power we all knew he had

Olivo is just getting lucky period. His luck is due to the opposing pitchers refusal to follow the "just throw Olivo sliders low and away and he'll just hack a way" game plan. Pretty good at controlling the basepath but needs work defensively.

Jacobs - Marlins got sick of his K's. Hits the crap out of the ball when he connects, just doesn't make contact enough.
Buck - Too much of an offensive liability to play very often.
Aviles - how can anyone hit with that funky, herky-jerky batting stance? Demotion to AAA deserved.
Pena, Jr. - Is TJ a AAAA player?
Gordon - a lot of folks were looking for a breakout in '09. Will he be back and be productive? .
Crisp cannot be on a dissapointment list. I readily admit I was in the WTF ARE YOU DOING camp when the trade was made. But Covelli was one of the biggest reasons why the Royals started out as well as they did. Good defensive centerfielder and has a high OBP. His only downside is that his arm is non existent. The only disappointment is that he's lost for the year.

Cant complain about Jacobs, cant field and cant really hit and has a stupid goatee.

John Buck is just inconsistent period. He either hits and cant catch, or has a great game catching but cant hit.

Did you just call Tony Pena Jr a AAAA player? GTFO! There are T Ballers at Westurban laughing at that comment

You cant place Gordon and Aviles on a disappointment list. They have both been hurt all freaking year. Gordon will be back after the break I believe (even though I think he should spend extra time in Omaha) and Aviles might not even be back for the year. as far as herky jerky batting style, if hes comfortable with it then let him be. He hasnt had a problem hitting up until he got injured.

          • Pena is OK. I thought they were gonna stop the game when he got his hit and have him make a speech but they didn't. I think Aviles would have had a better year if not for the forearm injury. I think Coco was one of the reasons the royals started out so well. He had speed and a high OBP. I like it when we steal bases such as last night.

I really think Jacobs will get out of his long HR slump soon. It seems the past week or so he has been making more contact with the ball and not striking out as much. Olivo just has been getting alot of fastballs inside and he eats those up.

              • Jacobs was 2 for 2 and an RBI but he must not have liked that feeling as he strikes out.

                    • Aviles has Tommy John surgery. This really, really sucks because he will miss around one year and he was never fully healthy this year.

                      • I think the Royals should look at bringing up a guy like Jeff Bianchi from AA Northwest Arkansas. He is hitting .331 with 5 HR's and 35 RBI's between Wilmington and NWA this year.

                        • No unfortunately they need to let Bianchi have his time in the minors. His numbers are good but let him develop more. I hate to say that I really do.

But thats part of the Royals downfall is just rushing players up to the majors with little to no regard to their development.

                          • Then they might as well put Joel Goldberg or Ryan Levebre in there at short, because a mannequin could hit better than Pena at this point.

                            • I spoke to soon maybe moving him up WILL work. But at the same time why risk moving up a kid too soon then heving him freak out then you lost out on not only a body but a prospect as well.

At this point im sure Joel Goldberg could hit circles around the whole team not just pena

                              • Ya, it's sad to say it, but at this point, you might as well bring up some kids and let them see what they can do. Especially at SS. What do you have to lose? Plus, I believe Bianchi is about 23 and was drafted in 2005, so he has a feel for pro ball at this point.
