I like our first base coach Rusty Koontz....he seems like a good guy lol. Yea Dave Owen has had some interesting calls but I think he has done well. Oh well Soria strikes out the side and the Royals have 2 W's in a row.

I wish we still had Silverio on 3rd. He was better, much better than Owen.

Boy, I was watching the game Monday just wondering how a team can ever win with such poor offensive performance. I'm not sure the guys are buying in to Seitzer's hitting philosophy.

We're getting close to the halfway point ... some thoughts as June ends:

2009 Bright spots so far:
Callaspo - nice average and occasional power - he's been a good get for KC.
Butler - a young stud who might be coming into his own - living up to the potential.
Olivo - started out poorly, but is now hitting HR and driving in runs with some regularity.

2009 disappointments:
Crisp - Expected to be a sparkplug, production was so-so, now DL.
Jacobs - Marlins got sick of his K's. Hits the crap out of the ball when he connects, just doesn't make contact enough.
Buck - Too much of an offensive liability to play very often.
Aviles - how can anyone hit with that funky, herky-jerky batting stance? Demotion to AAA deserved.
Pena, Jr. - Is TJ a AAAA player?
Gordon - a lot of folks were looking for a breakout in '09. Will he be back and be productive?

2009 Guys who leave us wanting more:
Teahen - Seems like a good hitter - should be batter.
DeJesus - Some days looks great, others not so much. Leading the team in RBI, but .242 BA unacceptable.

The starting pitching has been decent. Greinke is Greinke. Hochevar seems to have found a bit of a groove, Bannister and Meche have been fairly solid. 5th spot is ... up for grabs. Middle relief pitchers blow too many leads. Soria seems to be getting back into form.

I guess the Royals are better in 2009, but not by much. The New K loos good, though.
