This will be an interesting race. Any way you look at it, KS will lose two US Reps with some seniority in Washington.

I think Moran is more in touch with the people here in KS. He actually comes back when they aren't in session and on the weekends too, when he gets a chance.

I, personally, would choose Moran over Tiahrt, but Those primaries are still a year away.

I agree. I don't know near as much about Moran as he's not my rep, but at the moment I'd feel much better with him representing us in the Senate. And if I had to vote today, he'd get my vote.

We have now agreed on two political issues in the same day. :D

I just think that Tiahrt has lost touch with reality. Moran seems to be someone that is well liked in Washington, at leat appears to be that way. I think he could be a very good asset for this state to have there.

I don’t have a stake in this anymore but for what it is worth I didn’t approve of Tiahrt when he first ran for office. Believe it or not I actually voted (holding my nose) for Dan Glickman in 1994.

I was (an am) hoping that race doesn't get nasty.

I will admit that I'm getting tired of all the Tiahrt mailers from his campaign, as well as other politicians, like Hastert, supporting him.

Moran is a pretty good rep.

Royal, I wish all campaigns would stay clean, but that doesn't happen unfortunately. I'm sure this will get bad, because the Tiahrt campaigns usually do.

TT is, imho, what's wrong with Washington. Power broker that thinks he is the only one capable of representing you.

While I believe he does some good work, it's time to move on.

I will be voting for Jerry, and I believe it's an easy decision.

The replacement for Todd will be interesting. At this point in the game, I expect the Democrats to pick up the seat. I cannot be counted in the camp that believes there is going to be a big backlash against Dems in 2 years...perhaps that will change.

What's best for Kansas (IMO): Tiahrt would announce his plans to stay in the House, and remove his plans to run for Senate. This would allow Jerry Moran to run a clean race toward the Senate.

Anybody know: Why are both running, and leaving a spot exposed for a Democrat in the House?

Once we knew Brownback would be leaving for the Governors Mansion I'd always heard and assumed Moran was the only real option to take over. I've never been a big fan of Tiahrt and not sure I've ever voted for him. I'm not sure what the poll numbers would show right now but I do think Tiahrt should step aside and just let Moran run.

I've always been comfortable knowing that Todd Tiahrt is our rep here in Wichita.

His conservative credentials are outstanding, and either candidates would be great for the state.

For those of you who say "I support Jerry Moran", what would you say are the differences between he and Todd?

                      Political ideology? Personality?

Moran represents a large area of small towns and wheat farmers vs Tiahrt who represents a large populated area that has alot of aircraft related jobs and industry. I think it`ll come down to which industry voters feel is more important.

One thing I didnt like about Tiahrt was his ranting and raving about the tanker deal. Wanted Boeing to be sole maker of them. He`s failed to recognize the possibility his ranting could`ve meant the Air Force relocating the KC135 wing group out of Kansas.

If he didn't fight hard for his constituents he wouldn't be doing the job voters elected him to do.

Your kids and grandkids will be paying for it since the money doesn`t exist.

I think you are misunderstanding my point.

My first choice would be to cut taxes and cut spending. After years of both parties raising spending to obscene levels, that doesn't seem to be a probability.
