It was pretty wicked and everyone is alright. There was one death a few miles outside of town. Apparently someone in a trailer died when it was blown off it's foundation. I've heard winds reached anywhere from 80 to 120mph. I wish I would have taken some pics of damage in town. It's been a few days and a lot has been cleaned up but there's still evidence. I may take some pics tomorrow if it works out.
There were about 8 or so power lines down. A number of fences and large limbs. A couple of decent sized trees have been snapped. A lot of roof damage and now you see tarps on a number of houses. One of the local police officers had his roof come down in his living room and his back porch was thrown through a large shed/garage in his back yard.
The next town may have had it worse. I haven't been there but heard that there was very limited access into town after the storm hit. Thier local bank had all its windows blown out and a number of power lines were down in the street. I'm assuming they've regained power now. Heard the HS there has a lot of water damage and they were/are considering ending the school year now. Not sure if that will include the other schools in the district as I haven't heard of any other damage. Pretty sure the local MS in my town is fine.
It was nice to see the local Methodist church was out and about and providing warm meals and shelter to those who needed. I know KAKE was in town the last couple of days. The city told them to stay out of the way and there would be no comments. I do have to give props to the city workers, PD and the volunteer firefighters as well as the county help we had in coordinating searches and cleanup efforts on Friday.
