Like Royal said its a tough call to take Guillen and Butler out. If it was the 8th yeah do it no problem but the 7th? Hes really lucky Buck came through.
I heard Sutcliffe say the other day that he was talking to LaRussa, and LaRussa told him that Hillman could out-manage anybody. We haven't seen that yet. I would offer that Hillman's been put in some tough positions already, and he's won some and lost some. It would be nice to see him manage through some of these situations with a little more success.

eh I dunno. SABR Trey is >>> But regular Trey is <<<<

He has had his good and bad moments. Luckily the boys are pulling together and getting it done.

Hillman's move to sub in Maier and Bloomy ended up being a game-winning decision, just not with the timing he expected.

And Callaspo's defensive play on Podsednik in the top of the inning was pretty big.

It's so nice to feel like KC isn't out of it if they get down 4-5 runs early.

I agreed with subbing in Gullien who was at 3rd with Maier, but i didnt agree with him going all out and subbing in Butler who was at 2nd, luckily for Hillman it all worked out, or im sure people would be really criticizing him.

In 2003 with Tony Pena, they were 83-79. The "Believe" season. You must have a bad memory!

They probably think it is time for Gene to go. :D :D :D

You know who I have been really impressed with and all winning teams seem to have a guy like him is Bloomquist. That hit and run single he had was a thing of beauty, I wish/hope some of the Shocker players saw that, because it was text book. Bloomquist just does all the little things it takes to win ball games, he is great bunter as well as being able to handle the bat and hit the ball where it needs to go.

That was a long time ago. I'm doing good to remember stuff that happened in January. :D

                      I vaguely remember that season.

Are they ripping on him for making moves that didn't make "baseball" sense, but ended being the ones that won the game?

I hope they aren't applying for any baseball managerial jobs in the near future. I get that Hillman has made some questionable decisions. But when those decisions end up working, SHUT THE HECK UP!!!

The most questionable part of his decision was replacing Butler with Bloomquist. Let's look at their numbers over the past 7 days . . .

                        Butler: .385/.407/.731
                        Bloomy: .474/.575/.737

Bloomy has the better glove and speed. It can also be argued that he is a better situational hitter (important late in the game) than Butler is at this point in his career. I'm not really seeing the big problem here.

                        • they are off of it now, they were just basically saying we won last night game despite of that move.

Again Im not upset with the move - If it happened in the 8th. Its been brought to my attention that Guillen was limping which is something I hadnt noticed.

But yeah when I got home the Royals were down 7-4 and usually I would have turned it off but not this year. Not now.

                              • Replacing Guillen was the right move to be sure. Maier gave them the better chance on a sac fly. Bloomquist I wasn't sure about. I guess it gave KC a better chance of scoring two on any thing hit into the OF. I was thinking they would move Teahen to first but apparently Bloomquist can play first. I wasn't sure if he could or not. Shouldn't be surprised as he plays about everywhere else.
