It looks like we were reaching a lot. I'd never heard of any of the Chiefs' second day draft picks before today, and honestly I hadn't really heard of Jackson until a few days ago. We got more DTs and OTs from the later rounds that never seem to work out for us. I know that there are a lot of talented players from smaller schools in the NFL, but I hate when the Chiefs go for players from McNeese State. Reminds me of the Sylvester Morris bust. And we got a Mizzou guy -- not one of the flashy athletic Mizzou guys, either. For now, I'm giving it an F. But admittedly, I don't know much about our draft picks. For all I know, they could all be steals.

I think the experts are going to down grade KC because Pioli was not able to trade down. He was then forced to make a decision to either draft a type of player that No. 3 would call for, or draft a player he wanted regardless of the cost. In the end they will grade KC that they did not get good value for their pick.

Overall, I have not seen anything I don't see any of the "experts" who either to high or low on the KC draft. I'm hoping Pioli is not done making moves.

This is not the draft I was expecting from a Belichick disciple. I was expecting move-ups and/or move-downs, trades -- anything to get more picks. I am not expecting anything extraordinary from any of our picks other than the first 2.

He better have a plan for the rest of the gaping holes in our team. I was also hoping LJ would be gone this weekend!

Here is a summary I ready on Chiefs draft:

            1. DL Tyson Jackson - not good value. Won't put up flashy stats, more of run stuffer than pass rusher. Type of player Pioli wants to build a DL around.

            2. DL Alex Magee - will likely play the other DE. He provides size that the Chiefs need for the 3-4.

            3. DB Donald Washington - Lost his starting job last year which hurt his stock in the draft. Still went pro as a junior. He is supposebly fast.

            4. RB Javarris Williams - not expected to be an answer to L.J.

            5. K Ryan Succop - missed 10 of 30 FG as a senior. Wasn't on anybody draft radar.

            6. WR Quinten Lawrence - not seen much said about him. He's suppose to be fast but short. Was injured his senior year.

Yahoo Sports gives us a A-

                  Kansas City
                  Kansas City Chiefs
Picks: DE Tyson Jackson, DT Alex Magee, CB Donald Washington, OL Colin Brown, WR Quentin Lawrence, RB Javarris Williams, TE Jake O’Connell, K Ryan Succop.
                  Positives: Jackson and Magee.
Negative: Needed some skill position help for Matt Cassel.
Bottom line: A-. New Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli turned his first three picks into key foundation players with the selections of Jackson, Magee and by trading for Cassel at the start of free agency. One thing Pioli learned well from New England’s Belichick is to use your top picks on talented big men like Jackson, who is a carbon copy of Richard Seymour (the No. 6 overall pick in the 2001 draft) and then build around those guys. Add Jackson and Magee to Glenn Dorsey from the 2008 draft and suddenly you have the makings of a monster line. Get a few linebackers to go with it and the Chiefs stand to have a terrific defense by 2010.

I kind of hate seeing more high picks on def line when they've spent so many in recent years, but I guess if the past ones aren't going to work out you've got to try again. Hopefully they just got 2 starting DE's to go with Dorsey in the middle and Tank & Turk rotate in to keep fresh bodies in. I'll admit I was disappointed with the first pick and was hoping for a trade down but hopefully Jackson turns out to be a great player for em.

I'd expect Washington to be nickle back to start, and hopefully with a year or two of experience he develops to a potential starter. If he had stayed in school he likely would have gone much higher next year so that may be a good value pick.

If they intend for Javarris to move to FB I think that's a great pick, KC has not had a true FB since Richardson left and they've really missed him IMO.

I'd have liked to see another OL or WR but it could be guys they wanted were gone or not the "best available" at their picks and hopefully some of those needs will be addressed in FA now.

If you include Cassel as their "2nd round pick" then I still give them a B.

At this point I'd be thrilled if Washington ever becomes a nickle back. Right now he has three young guys in front of him that I have a lot more confidence in.

Just being an athlete isn't enough at the corner. From what I've heard this kid isn't close to being ready.

Actually in a 3-4 Dorsey is projected as DE, ESPN showed the projected starting lineup, Jackson and Dorsey being the 2 DE with Magee and Turk rotating in , and Tank Starting NT with Ron Edwards rotating in with him.

I gave us a C, but not because of the picks we made. I thought we'd have the chance to trade out of the 3 pick, move down and select some OL help. The deal, for whatever reason could not be made.

I'm hoping Pioli found some good value in the later rounds.
