According to Geithner anyway. This guy is really frightening me the longer he's around. He shouldn't have been appointed anyway and now he keeps asking for more and more power. I'll have to find some more of the stories I've heard and check YouTube for a couple of interesting videos I saw on the news about his time on the Hill in front of one of the financial committees.

In an extraordinary move, the administration forced the departure of Rick Wagoner as CEO of General Motors over the weekend, and implicit in Obama’s remarks was that the government holds the ability to pull the plug on that company or Chrysler.
I can't say McCain would be doing anything different, which is good long term for the Republicans that he didn't win.
Let the Democrats own this ridiculus run towards Socialism."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."

This is all about control and always has been. In my judgment this administration’s financial policy has little to do with actual economics and more to do with its subjective (which is to say, radical) sense of fairness. It isn't government, per se. It's a morality play directed by a leader with a very peculiar moral compass.

I was really, primarily, referring to tax policy; however, the sad thing is I see the American public acquiescing to more government control without actually thinking through long term and broad implications. I have seen very few, if any, elected representatives artfully, intelligently and forcefully arguing why this is a very bad idea. There doesn’t seem to be any room for debate in the current culture/climate – as we are in a crisis after all.
Do we really want to be bailing out the auto industry, for example? Why can’t they just go through an orderly bankruptcy? It seems to me they would be stronger coming out the other side as they would have a real incentive to correct whatever problems they might have rather than “giving” them money that allows them to stay afloat (while changing little) only to come back and ask for more money later. The funds “given” to these companies are a disincentive to real change.
Do we really want the government to tell a private company who its board members should be? This type of public/private corporate marriage sure worked out well with Fannie and Freddy.
People need to understand what this means and it should be presented in very simple terms – healthcare could be a prime example. When the government “pays” (or should I write “invests”) for your healthcare people should be aware that it will reserve absolute and total control over your personal conduct and condition, i.e. it will decide whether you are too old to get cancer treatment, or too overweight for a hip replacement, or as a prior smoker you don’t qualify for treatment for heart disease, etc. Ask anyone from the U.K. (and there are plenty working for companies in Wichita) and they will confirm this reality. You see it is, on a certain level, very simple – your personal conduct affects the government’s “investment”. Hence, they will exert moral and actual control over your treatment or lack thereof.
This is all very scary and it extends to nearly everything the government intimately involves itself in.

The problem is the American people are guided by pop culture and not intelligence. They will listen to the words and not look at the actions. They will not voice opinion that is anti pop-culture for fear of being un-cool.
The American people need to understand that this isn't about bringing people up. It is about controlling your lives. They are preying on the mob in order to secure power.
The biggest issue I have is that our government is not elected to rule us. But at this point, they are acting like rulers. It will come back to be their demise.
I can see some sort of revolution, and I don't mean violent, that will have to be done in order to reset, if you will, the proper place of government. It is the only way to unwind what is happening, or could happen."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!
