Wow your right it took me 30 seconds to find the info, that Obama is really holding on to that data!
Here's a breakdown from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) of which automakers are getting the biggest share of business from the clunkers program:
General Motors 18.7%
Toyota 17.9%
Ford 16.0%
Honda 11.6%
Chrysler 10.6%
Nissan 7.0%
Hyundai 6.6%
Kia 3.8%
Mazda 2.3%
Subaru 2.2%
Volkswagen 1.9%
Suzuki 0.4%
Mini 0.3%
Mitsubishi 0.3%
Smart 0.2%
Volvo 0.1%
The disclosure that 55% of vehicles being purchased under the program are foreign makes -- mostly Japanese and South Korean brands -- could raising questions about whether the stimulus benefits American auto workers, or those in Asia. The United Auto Workers union, which represents workers at the Detroit Big 3 auto plants that had a 45% share of the sales, is supportive of the clunkers effort as a way of helping the industry spur sagging sales. And some of the foreign cars are built in U.S. plants, just as some U.S. cars are imported from Canada, Mexico or South Korea.
Inquiring minds want to know!
