  • What Would Thomas Paine Say?

This got me thinking a bit. It's been quite some time since I've read "Common Sense" but think I may pick it up in the not too distant future. I'd also be interested on the rewrite in the modern day...

Dr. Drew Pinsky was on Glenn Beck the other day talking about how the United States today compares to the Pre-French Revolution days. The wars we are fighting & financing, the excessive spending & borrowing, unhappiness with the government, etc. Makes you think about what could happen.

I don’t know what Thomas Payne would say and I have not read Common Sense in a long while (I may have to take it off my book shelf); but speaking of France or basically Europe you would be correct to be concerned about what might or could happen in this country. If you believe that it is impossible for the United States to become like Europe – you might be wrong as this article argues:

I record Beck everyday and try and keep up. I'm a little behind but saw the Dr. Drew show. It really does make you pause and think about things. Part of you says "certainly that can't happen here" and another part that says "good Lord what do we do if/when it happens?"

Things aren't looking great at the moment so I won't rule out much of anything at this point. But a lot of people aren't feeling great and things are setting up for some eventful times.

IMO, it's a sooner or later proposition. Not if, but when.

Who was it that said democracy is the road to socialism?

Oh yeah, I think it was Karl Marx.
