Insurance Industry Wins, Low-Cost Doctor Forced to Raise Fees

I saw him on TV a few days ago and believe only a very small percentage of his patients elected to go with the low-cost fee.

I hope this guy is successful in getting legislation passed. What a great idea to help lower consumer healthcare costs - eliminate some of the claims processors.

If he can't get legislation passed then he just needs to tweak and rework his plan to get around the "insurance" classification. A growing number of doctors operate without taking insurance by simply charging lower fees to begin with, more of a cash and carry basis. He could potentially rebrand his services as pre-paid for example. He can always provide flexible financing or pricing of services to cover folks based on financial need or simply donate services.

He has a great idea though. As soon as corporate America finds a way to co-opt it to their advantage, you can be sure the legislation will pass. Just like they did with casino gambling and licquor by the drink..
