Pretty intersting stuff. Pelosi has full power to grant (or not grant) members the rights to fly on military VIP/SAM aircraft. They get a little testy it seems when they get told no...

This was in response to a government e-mail saying they couldn't fill all the speakers flight requests.

another was demanding to know why a members spouse couldn't get an airplane without the member actually flying:

or pissed about the airforce didn't keep their an ample supply of Gulfstreams at the Pelosi beck and call

It is my understanding that there are no G5s available for the House during the Memorial Day recess. This is totally unacceptable.

The speaker will want to know where the planes are, and why they cannot even support....

It doesn't surprise me that the people of San Francisco elected her, but how she got Congressional Democrats to make her Speaker I have no idea.

She is a dream target for Republicans, if they'll only go after her.

Seems Judical Watch got it wrong. As a matter of fact it seems W felt it was necessary for the Speaker to have access to military aircraft and was defended by Socialist Tony Snow

WASHINGTON — The White House on Thursday came to the defense of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, describing as "silly" reports about her use of a large Air Force transport plane to travel back and forth from her West Coast district.

"This is a silly story and I think it's been unfair to the speaker," White House spokesman Tony Snow said at a morning briefing with reporters.

"We think it's important that the speaker of the House enjoy the same kind of security that we arranged for Speaker Hastert in the wake of September 11th. And like I said, I think that there's been a lot of over-hyped reporting on this," Snow said.

The treasure trove of documents obtained by Judicial Watch from the Department of Defense regarding Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's use of military aircraft doesn't seem to prove the organization's allegation that Pelosi has made "unprecedented demands" for the flights.

In fact, it appears that Pelosi uses military aircraft less often than her predecessor, former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert
