Legendary Wyandotte coach Shublom dies at 86

...Shublom (pronounced SHOO-bloom) became the boys basketball coach in 1955 and won 10 Kansas state championships and had three second-place finishes over the next 14 seasons.

His run was nothing short of magical. Two teams, in 1957 and 1965, were undefeated. Five finished with only one loss. The Bulldogs played in the championship game for 10 straight years, from 1956 to 1965.

By the time he left in 1969 to become freshman basketball coach at Missouri, Shublom had compiled an extraordinary 296-26 record. He sent several players to college, including Lucius Allen, a 1965 graduate who later starred at UCLA and went on to have a successful 10-year NBA career.
