Can someone shoot Charles Schumer, please?

Are there really that many stupid people in this country?

Also, for any of you bleeding heart libs out there, I am totally mortified by the 40% of Republican sponsored earmarks as well. If not even more so.

Listen, they want to spend money to kick start the economy, fine. They won....but this other crap is unacceptable.

Build schools, bridges, roads etc.....whatever. The rest of it sucks.

Another earmark, by Rep. Howard Berman (D-Calif.) provides $200,000 for a "tattoo-removal violence-outreach program" in Los Angeles.

The funds would buy a tattoo-removal machine to help gang members erase signs of their past.
New York got its share of earmarks, among them $475,000 to "improve and expand" the Italian American Museum in Little Italy.

      . . .

Nadler also announced $4.5 million for new park development in Manhattan.

Uncle Sam's generosity extends upstate, where there's $950,000 to convert a railroad bridge over the Hudson River into a walkway in Poughkeepsie
I and others on our city council are uneasy about requesting federal assistance to remove arsenic from our drinking water.

And some moron wants $200k to remove tattoos and half a mil to improve a museum.

Can we just declare a vote of no confidence in Congress and recall every one of them in a single fell swoop?

I can’t read your link here at work; however, if you are referencing the current budget proposal remember one important omission in President Obama’s speech on Tuesday: He did not say a word about eliminating earmarks as it concerns this year’s budget.

What he did say is that there are no earmarks in the stimulus package and that there will be no earmarks in next year’s budget.

Which is a lie because there ARE earmarks in the stimulus. I love how he's passing the blame for the pork in the budget to Bush. You're the one signing the damn thing PBO. It's on YOU!!!

My guess is you have seen the clip Maggie but take a look at home and tell me that doesn't infuriate you. It should infuriate everyone.

Someone is going to have to explain what an earmark is and isn't because as I read the definition and as I read the stimulus package, there are billions of earmarks.

Well count me in as part of the “chattering class” for whom the senior senator has such contempt for – unfortunately this being NY, barring a HUGE scandal, he is going to be around for a long time. The porky stuff in bills is how he and others in Congress get re-elected.

I hate to write it but I am used to this stuff.

Enter the Earmarks. Not only is Obama not fallowing through on his campaign promise, but Obama himself has his own earmarks on this bill! But he's just going to blame it all on Bush even though it'll be PBO's signature on this bill.
