What is wrong with holding your politicians accountable to their promises?

Funny how were starting to hear liberal trying to shutup free speech and any dissent. It funny how they don't like what they have dished out for the 8 year under Bush.

This is my promise. Whether it is a Bush or Obama doing good things I will praise him, when he does bad things or things that go against my morals I will use my constitutional right to free speech - and your not going to shut me up - call me all the names you want not going to matter.

Obama has only been in office a week, so I don’t expect much; however, I also think you should take a practical look at some of the promises you say have been kept.

1. His executive order to close Guantanamo within a year has no real practical affect. There is no doubt in my mind that he might want to close the facility; however, I view his recent action as largely symbolic. The hard question is what to do with the detainees at the base and I don’t think anyone really knows. Until the detention facility is actually inactive, as promised, I don’t think you can count this as a promise kept. Obama promised to shut it down – it is still open and I doubt it can responsibly be shut down within one year.

2. He did meet to discuss a pull out of Iraq but that is merely an extension of his predecessor’s policy. Things have been stabilizing in Iraq for some time (credit for which should go to the prior administration) and it may be possible to pull most U.S. troops out within his time frame; however, I hope he listens to the military leadership and the government of Iraq – their needs are paramount.

I seriously expected BO to have a plan in place for where the Gitmo detainees would be sent. IMO he should have worked out the details before grandstanding in front of the national media while making symbolic gestures.

Ironically I hope the Gitmo scumbags get sent to a federally pen to live among the general population and get shanked in the yard. I’d love to see what the human rights groups would have to say about that. (I know that won’t happen but I bet even America’s most vile criminals are somewhat patriotic).

Had an additional member withdraw due to an over politicization of the census and lack of bi-partisan input on the stimulus - Check.

Passed pork laden wasteful spending bill that was as much payoffs as so called stimulus bill -Check!

That's the promlem. Him keeping some of these promises is going to do more harm than good to this country. The Spending Bill was one of those I'd hope he'd somehow fail to do.

KC, can you list the time when massive government spending helped the economy ? Ever?

Even the Congressional Budget Office said this plan will harm the economy in the long run.

And Obama has already broken his promise of no tax increases to the middle class and below as he pushed for and approved a cigarette tax increase.

For some folks in lower income groups, they'll end up paying more than 10% of their income in ciggie taxes.

That is a broken promise - not that anyone ever believed him in the first place.
