If they've gotten themselves into so much trouble that they can't survive than so be it. But throwing money at them WILL NOT solve anything. The best it'll do is delay it. Which would still mean it was a waste of tax payer money.

      I rest my case...

"Recipients of eight-figure bonuses in 2007, the corporate cowboys used their executive perks — which for GM's Rick Wagoner include the run of a $36 million Gulfstream IV jet — to arrive in style as they went begging before Congress."

P.S. The 'original' Dofo looks like a genius compared to these nutjobs. :D

Maybe I'm hoping for too much, but maybe this economic downturn, particularly now that it is hitting a large manufacturing industry, will lead to a restructuring of U.S. labor.

Toss out the grossly inflated union labor contracts in favor of more reasonable ones. Bring some of those manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. Return to a more humble standard of living, tipping the scales in favor of production over consumption. Then maybe we can support a sustainable economy for the long-term.

Another 1 to 2 Trillion Dollars for Banks?

If this happens I may just run head first into a wall. We need to stop throwing around money to bail out bad business. If the banking problems was as bad as they make it sound than KS banks would be struggling as well. But they're not.

Bad business should just die. Wasting taxpayer money is not a good idea. Especially to save what has failed on its own. Although Congress did assist the bank problem.

How many jobs will be lost b/c of higher taxes needed to pay for all of this debt?

If I transfer money to GM, then neither of us are really benefited.

If I give RDR $20,000 to hire a maid, that is not $20,000 of economic development.

It amazes me how many "smart" people are so ignorant of basic economics.

If GM fails, people will still need to buy and use cars. Someone will be making those cars. And those folks will probably hire former GM works.

Some are treating this stimulus like it is found money and also treating existing jobs as finite.
