This is all pretty simple. Voter turnout. The Dems rely on the poor, homeless, welfare recipients etc to continue to support those wonderful programs that have served them so effectively all these years.
If their machine can get these people to vote in big numbers, it's over.
May God bless America.

I could spend hours correcting your many flawed ideas, but I really need to spend some of the weekend explaining to my daughter why our country is so screwed up and then I need to figure out how much I need to save for your retirement.

Originally posted by jocoshockYou're kind of describing WSU alumni. Funny how the schools enrollment skyrocketed when WU became WSU. It's relied on the poor kids who needed cheap, state subsidized tuition to get an education. Parents were too shiftless or lazy to make enough money to send them elsewhere. Had to stay home and work at Spangles because they couldn't afford to live in a dorm.
First off, historically both the former WU and the current WSU were/are public metropolitan universities. The only demographical differences that have occurred since the school's inclusion into the regents systems have been sheer numbers- not income, not HS GPA, not median age- nothing else.
Secondly, when I decided on attending WSU it was due to the Barton School of Business, which in case you've been living under a rock (on in Shawnee's case- a financially-overleveraged, cookie cutter home with vinyl windows, concrete-based simulated wood siding, and a roof the matches every other in visual range) happens to be the oldest, largest, most respected b-school in the state, and perhaps the region. There're other colleges within WSU worth noting here as well, but they weren't part of my experience.
When I attended WSU, the cost of attendance amongst the three Kansas D1 schools was a virtual wash, and the standards of admission were the same as well (and continue to be today- if you have any knowledge of how exactly the regents system works). I didn't choose WSU because I could live at home with the 'rents- seeing as I came from outside the Wichita metro. I didn't choose WSU because it was an academic "last chance"- it was the only school I attended, my HS grades were fine and my ACT was in the 94th percentile. I didn't attend WSU because it was somehow cheaper than KU or KSU, because at the time and circumstances that I went it wasn't.
It seems my WSU education is working out alright- seeing that after I get married, my future wife (and fellow WSU alum- from out-of-state) and I will instantly (and unfortunately) be knocking on the doorstep of the 28% tax bracket, less than 5 years out of college.
My advice would be that you put on a fairly durable flame suit for what is coming your way from those comments. For your own good, and the forums, we can hope that you are banned.

However, you can reach a point when there is no going back. For example, if Iran is permitted to develop nuclear weapons – there is no going back and generations will have to deal with the consequences.

We just have to wait and see how everything plays out on Tuesday. Maybe the Republicans will pull some upsets in congressional races and then everyone's fears of an all Democratic control will be all for nothing.

If you don’t mind, could you tell me what you mean by a candidate more moderate than Bush. McCain is, in most ways, a very moderate Republican. I just want to know where you are coming from….
