  • Rumor (I hope)

Please tell me if this is just rumor or I am just late in hearing it.

Someone I know (who knows someone who knows someone) reported to me that the $165 Million that T. Boone Pickens pledged to OSU is Gone, Gone, Gone.

Pickens apparently put it in his hedge fund and because of the rise in the price of oil it swelled to over $300 Million. But he left it there, and because of the loss in the price of oil, it apparently is now wiped out. However, a lot of the upgrades to the football stadium have already been made. And what about that fantastic compound to house all the athletes that OSU has been bragging about.

Honestly, I hope this is not true -- not because I'm a fan of OSU, but because I wouldn't want this to happen to any university (yes, even the ones up north).

Looks like the Shocks will have to keep kicking their butts in the old Allie P. for some time to come.

I assume that when you say "The ones up North" that means KU?

I think it would be great if it did happen to them and they had to sell the University and all the property to developers and they then turned the campus into a corporate hog farm.

No I guess that is something that would never happen hogs have standards.

The Kivistos have donated millions to the Tulsa community, and have been very supportive of the arts and other charities outside of their KU donations. It underscores the reality that many institutions, not just athletic departments, are being hurt by the economic downturn.
