What you have to be able to do is filter out the garbage (name-calling, blind partisanship, etc.), of other's posts and adhere to your own standards when you post. That's about the only way to participate in a political discussion without losing your mind.

If a post is so full of said garbage it discredits the message of the post (assuming there is one), just dismiss it and move on.

You will find many times in your life where you will have to sift through such garbage in order to salvage something of value. Might as well start now.

One more note Hotel you have several very learned posters who will play devil's advocate to illicit a response. Most folks even if they disagree can appreciate the framework of a position's logical construct and many commonalities can be established through Venn and Euler diagrams as an example.
