IAM won't give up the job security thing, and Boeing won't budge either.
Guess there's gonna be alot of very slim Christmas's around Wichita this year, cause it ain't gonna end anytime soon. Unless an arbitrator gets involved.
Its to bad. I think a majority (that's the impression I get) of the Wichita workers want to get back to work and don't have much beef with the offers. But they are only 700 compared to the 26000 in Washington.

That's why I don't think there will be a problem here when the Engineering contract comes up in December because the Wichita SPEEA contract isn't tied to the Washington SPEEA contract.

Haven't they tried to get rid of SPEEA once before?
And why can't the Boeing Machinists just cross the line and return to work?

LOL! Easier said than done my friend... If you cross the picket line those red-necks will jump all over you and make your life a living hell until the next contract comes due. I've heard some horror stories about this...
Does anyone in that union's leadership have any common sense?
They make demands of higher compensation and benefits, then ask for job security on top of it. Maybe, just maybe, if the union lowered their demands the company wouldn't need to outsource some of it's functions to remain flexible and competitive. But no, it's just the big, bad company being mean to their workers.
Boeing won't be in town for very much longer, thanks to Union greed.
I don't believe that if Boeing decides to eliminate their presence in Wichita it will have much or anything to do with th outcome of the IAM contract. The majority of the Wichita Boeing workforce is exempt (i.e. salaried executive, administrative or professional).
There will be other economic reasons that drive Boeing to leave Wichita - not the machinists labor contract.

Boeing machinist now only represent a very, very small population in Wichita.
The bigger effect will be spillover of the Boeing work stoppage on longterm Spirit work and what they will have to do with there workers.

That's what I was getting at. They are costing quite a bit of people alot of money that don't work for Boeing.
