  • Alaska panel finds Palin abused power

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner.

The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.

Abusing her authority, sounds she's been practicing for when she becomes president.

She would fit right in with the Democratic congress and past democratic presidents.

If my nephew got tasered, I would probably do the same thing. Guess that makes me a shady b>>>3.

I read somewhere that the boy asked his dad to taser him to "see what it feels like". The father set it on the lowest setting and did it. Stupid of course, but there is a bit more to the story below the surface.

Btw - there is a nice report on troopergate by TIME:

She was only directly involved in a small bit of the pressure campaign — a meeting or two and a couple of emails. She can thank Monegan for not having her hands dirtier; it was he who told her to keep herself at "arm's length" from any Wooten conversations.

But even though she won't likely face any legal repercussions, the amateurism and cronyism of her brief administration hardly leaves Palin sitting pretty. Troopergate's final verdict may be even more damaging than a rebuke: her administration was, at least this regard, just as self-motivated as the Washington fat cats and lobbyists she hopes to unseat.

The report notes a few instances in which Palin pressed the case against trooper Mike Wooten, but it was her husband, Todd, who led the charge. Todd Palin had extraordinary access to the governor's office and her closest advisers and he used that access to try to get Wooten fired.
After Palin's election, her new public safety commissioner, Monegan, said he was summoned to the governor's office to meet Todd Palin, who said Wooten's punishment had been merely a "slap on the wrist." Monegan said he understood the Palins wanted Wooten fired. "I had this kind of ominous feeling that I may not be long for this job if I didn't somehow respond accordingly," Monegan told the investigator.
I think it was probably those two things that got her in trouble. I wonder if it would have gone that far had her husband not been trying so hard to get him fired too, even after the case had been closed.

If she is willing to let her husband have access to state records, is she gonna let him have access to federal stuff that he has no business being around? I think it is a good question to be asking.

Guess he's gonna have to come up with another lame ass excuse, as that one bombed.

Time is not conservative. As long as their writers graduate from eastern elite schools, I don't care if the ghost of Barry Goldwater owns it.
