And that is reflective of the kind of society we live in. Palin is the ultimate Jerry Springer show waiting to happen. She has an ounce of substance and a pound of ratings. She is the most unqualified candidate in the history of the universe yet she is by far the biggest television draw when she is on T.V.

You could take a person like Ron Paul and give him an hour special to discuss politics and Palin an hour the following night and she would beat his viewership numbers by a multiple of 30. If she shows a little gland she might even break NFL records. People are very cynical anymore and they just don't give a ****.

Have you not been wathcing the TV coverage of the election?

        McCain has been talking plenty.

The campaign is smart to have Palin out talking about what she is talking about. Meanwhile Biden tells people that Hillary would have been a better choice.
I have been watching but since Gov. Palin was selected she seems to be in the limelight considerably more than Sen. McCain. Perhaps that is what McCain wanted.

Or perhaps that's what the media wants to show.

Hockey is a great sport but ever since the lockout it's not even on ESPN anymore. Its weak grasp on the #4 major sport in America has loosened. If you want to appeal to American voters you surely don't market yourself as a hockey mom. But that doesn't matter with Palin because she could walk up and flatulate the Canadian anthem for 30 mins and she would still beat McCain's ratings.

I've kinda been wondering the same thing... I guess little league hockey and putting emphasis on your accent when you want a laugh is what’s big up in Alaska.

What does worldly and sophisticated have to do with hockey...? Sorry to have made fun of your second coming of Christ.

SB was doing a great and interesting thread and analysis on the electoral college, can we please get back to that.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

                            Oct 7

                            Obama 329
                            McCain 174

                            States in Play (O = Obama, M = McCain)

                            Virginia (O+2, 13 EV)
                            Nevada (O+1, 5 EV)
                            Colorado (O +3, 9 EV)
                            Florida (O +5, 27 EV)
                            Missouri (O +2, 11 EV)

                            NC (Even, 15 EV)
                            Ohio (Even, 20 EV)

                            Indiana (M+1, 11 EV)

                            National Polls

Obama leads in every national tracking poll between 2 to 9 points with an average of +5.5 (-0.4 decrease since the last update)

                            Analysis

Not much good news in the national polls for the McCain campaign. Might be a hint in the battleground state of Virginia, NC and Ohio are still soft for Obama - but lets face it, these states are just gravy for Obama.

The VP debate didn't seem to have much effect on the race. Not much else to say but capture the snapshot of the Electoral Situation at the start of Debate #3.

                              Oct 11

                              Obama 364
                              McCain 174

                              States in Play (O = Obama, M = McCain)

                              Missouri (O +3, 11 EV)
                              NC (O+2, 15 EV)
                              Ohio (O+3, 20 EV)

                              Indiana (M+3, 11 EV)

                              National Polls

Obama leads in every national tracking poll between 4 to 11 points with an average of +7.6 (+2.1 increase since the last update)

                              Analysis

Obama continues to strengthen his positions across the board. As you might notice, the states in play are droping likes flies in a refrigerator. Obama could lose all the states that are in play (<5%) now and will still have a electoral landslide.

Republicans are starting to see the writing on the wall and are quickly unhooking their horses from the McCain express as it looks like the bridge is out around the next bend.

                                martymoose,

Her "accent" and folksy ways are nowhere to be heard when she debates in her own state. This appears to be her way of talking down to her new best friends, the Joe sx-packs of America. As anyone can see, a lot of Americans are eating it up.
I challenge anyone to compare her debates in Alaska when she ran for mayor or governor as opposed to a VP candidate, to still think differently.
I find it insulting that she thinks we're ALL that stupid.
Sigh...she's right in so many ways, bless her heart. You betcha.
