McCain/Obama at Saddleback Civil Forum

[SB Shock]

Saddleback Church (hosted by Rick Warren) host a forum and allow candidates to speak their heart in a "civil and thoughtful format absent the partisan 'gotcha' questions".

McCain/Obama were asked the same questions and given an opportunity to answer. Candidates didn't know the questions nor got to hear their opponents answers (everything was blind). Good way to really get a good contrast of the candidates position.

Watched it on tv thought both did a good job. Neither discussed specifics. The setting seemed more pro McCain.

I think it's well know that McCain excels at the impromptu town forum type events, while Obama is not as slick of a speaker once he's out from behind a teleprompter.

Vote. But vote 3rd party. Doesn't really matter who so long as there's enough votes to give the major parties a message.

Neither candidate is going to do anything to change the country for the better. We'll either get more war, more taxes, or both. I'm of the hope that Obama will win so that in four years people will blame him and the Dems, allowing a true conservative to rise up within the Republican party.

But it won't happen if people just continue voting for the Republicrats.

Trust me, there's about a 1% chance of me voting for either of these two. I do think Obama is more frightening with his policies but it may be better for Conservatives down the road for him to win. That thought still scares the hell out of me. McCain isn't much better. I just have to figure out which 3rd Party to vote for. It's probably between Barr and Baldwin and I believe both will be on the ballot in KS.

One example he has stated that Bob Ruben will be on his cabinet. I have met Ruben and believe him to be one of the finest financial minds I have ever come acrossed, a brilliant man.

Ross Perot got almost 19% of the vote in 1992 and I don't think anybody got the message.

Until somebody with money puts up a realistic campaign, nobody is ever going to get any message.



You conservative guys need to vote for McCain. I don't like him that much either, but I'll take him over Obama.

The thing is, if McCain wins then the Republicans think what they're doing is fine and they'll keep running farther left and abandoning conservatives. Conservatives have been stuck voting for guys like McCain just because they're better options than Obama. I do think we'll be better off with McCain than Obama, but that's not saying much. And considering McCain will win KS easily, I'll go ahead and vote 3rd party and feel better about myself knowing I didn't actually vote for either one of the horrible candidates we're stuck with.

While I could be wrong, I don't recall the level of dissatisfaction with the candidates from within their own parties that is going on now. I don't know about the Dems, but a lot of Republicans feel like they don't have a worthy candidate. Heck, many feel like there's two Dems running for president.

I agree with Sub. If McCain wins, there is absolutely no hope that the GOP leadership will realize they are dismantling the party.
