I'll do what I can. I've been looking forward to this night for quite a while. I'll probably record the game and watch it again just to focus on different youngsters. Yes, I can be a bit of a sports geek :D Who would of guessed?
I hope The Mummy is good. I want to know as I've enjoyed the others and it's a good role for Brendan Fraser. He does it well. They're fun movies.
Thank goodness the Chefs have fans like yourselves because 3 letters come to mind when I think of exhibition football - BFD (and I suspect the veteran players feel the same). The first and last games are just horrid.
Too bad training camp isn't closer because that's where the action is (not to mention free). I attended a few of the Pats training sessions and it was pretty interesting watching all the individual drills (particularly tackling).
Pre season is nice when you have so many new and young players. It's actually a little exciting to see them all play. I've always enjoyed watching even the 3rd and/or 4th string guys and seeing if or which ones I think may have a future somewhere down the line.
and also the 2nd half wont be as bad as it has in the past, because you are only allowed to have 80 players in camp, i think in years past you could bring over 100 at the start of training camp
the Good-
-Chan Gailey is a savior, he will easily be our biggest offseason pick up.
-Brodie, Threw some nice throws and moved the offense very well,
-Brad Cottam, he is going to be a nice replacement for TG
The Bad-
-Every Single LB that played in the 2nd half, they were pretty bad
-Macnitosh and Adrian Jones, I really think our best bet when Alberts comes back is to move Herb Taylor to the right side.
All in all it was not too shabby for our first preseason game, a big improvement from last year and we didnt even have our 2 1st round picks.
^ I agree with all the above. I got to see parts off and on, and fortunately got to see the first drive. The offense does look much better with Chan calling the plays. It was so nice to see some rollouts! After getting burned by them for so many years, glad to see it in our playbook and hopefully that helps LJ by keeping the defense honest.
I thought Brodie looked good. Yes he'll still make some bad decisions but the pass to Franklin to set up the TD was perfect. I'm also impressed by the WR's, several guys really looked good. Unfortunately that may make it hard for Sippio to make the team (I thought he should have made it last year) but he made a good case in the 4th. That will be an interesting battle to watch.
I'm still concerned about the O line, but hopefully a little more time together and getting Albert in there will help. D line got blown off the ball pretty bad and didn't generate a lot of pass rush, but hopefully Dorsey will help there. In the secondary I saw a lot of miscommunication/mis-execution where two guys were covering one receiver and left someone else open, but that should get better with time for all the young guys.
I know its just one game but Cottam looks like a GREAT pickup, as you said newshock they've got their replacement when Tony retires.
