2008 Royals - August

The Royals finished off the month of June on the right foot. This weekend they'll try to pick up where they left off against the Central leading ChiSox and their new addition.

At 50-59, they're not really that far back from what I was hoping for. That big losing streak really, really hurt. But the young talent is coming around and the pen is solid. If the offense could be a little more consistent things would look pretty good. Hopefully we can finish up on a strong note and maybe get to .500 or so for the year.

As much as this team has struggled on both sides of the field 50-59 isnt to bad.
Dont get me wrong I think everybody expected them to be better than this. And while we definently wont win the central its nice to not be in last and also have a respectable record.

Minor league update on our 1st basemen kaaihu or whater his name is:

AA stats this year, has spent his now 3rd year in AA and then being promoted to AAA last weekend...

AA:. 91 games. .314 avg 26hr 79 rbi .463 OBP .624 slugg% 1.086 OPS Insane....
AAA so far after 2 games... 4/9 2 hr 5 rbi

I watched him play some in Wichita and thought he was hopeless. He had poor stats and a huge hole in his swing. He's been impressive so far this year. I can't wait to see what he does the rest of the year in Omaha. I like Gload and all, but we need to get younger. I think Butler can play 1st but we have to have another option there as well. And if Kaaihue can bring some pop with him all the better.

More injuries. DDJ and Grud both go down. Guillen is still nursing soreness.

Looks like Esteban will be spending more time in LF as I'd expect Maier and Teahen to be playing more until Jose feels better. TJ will probably be playing SS while Aviles moves over to 2B. German could play 2B if Guillen plays in the OF.

No problemo. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew that hidden fact. And technically, it's not a 'national' game. It's being broadcast regionally. Three other games will be on at the same time. We get the LA-NY game here, like most probably will.
