George Carlin goes home

My tribute to the late, great comedian, George Carlin....

The object of football is to march down the field and pass enemy boundaries and get into the endzone. The object of baseball is to run HOME.

I miss him already.

In football you get "the two minute warning". In baseball its the "7th inning stretch".

"And to speed up a baseball game you get one pitch thats it".

He was one of my favorita commedians.

And just think, how many of those seven words not fit for television are now heard every day on every medium. It boggles the mind.

I've always found Carlin funny and enjoyed his appearances in some of the Kevin Smith films. But for a guy who thought religion and those who practice it should be kept to themselves, he spent an abundance of his time bashing it and them. That's usually where he'd lose me and I'd change the channel.

I always had the feeling that there was more to that than we would ever know, kind of like, "I think thou doth protest too much." I'm basing this on my belief that the opposite of love is not hate, but indifference. Hate requires some pretty intense level of emotion, IMO.

I saw him last time he was in town several years back at century II and I gotta say it was awesome. About half way through he started talking about worshiping the sun because he could actually see it among other reasons and about a quarter of people in attendance got up and left. He's not for everyone but I dug the **** out of that cat. It's a sad day.
