Rosco's drive on the 7th hole (19th played) was a bad shot that lead to his downfall. He also made a bad shot out of the sand, but overall for the tournament he played real well, and seems like a nice guy.
Rocco played well and should be proud of his effort. I was pulling for the guy. But if I were him I would be a bit disappointed – he had Woods right where he wanted after the 15th hole – Par, Par, Birdie would have sealed the deal. Rocco simply gave Woods too many chances to win (both Sunday and Monday) and you cannot do that.
Notwithstanding, you have to give Rocco credit – he made Woods sweat. He gave Woods a good match yesterday – which is all I want to see out of these pros. A lot of credit goes to Woods too – gusty effort on that knee – when Rocco backed him into a corner he fought his way out – great performance. I like Woods but it bothers me that no one seems to want to step up and challenge him.
Absolutely one of my favorite US Open's (at least in the last few years. I thought it was awesome.
I'm a huge Woods fan, and I'm also pretty happy we were able to keep the Euros from winning again (Lee Westwood). I think it's been almost 40 years since a Euro won our National Championship.
