Polar Bears Threatened.....Or Maybe Not

I remember hearing sometime in the last week or two that there was a group trying to get polar bears listed as endangered due to "global climate change". Hoping that this would prevent the US from ever drilling in ANWR and possibly opening up lawsuits against oil companies. How much of that is absolutely true and not I'm not sure. But there's definitely some truth there.

I believe some compromise or something was reached to list them as threatened, despite the fact that in the past 30 years the polar bear population in AK has gone from something like 5K to 30K. Anyway, Alaska, and Gov. Palin, are suing to keep them from being listed as threatened.

Alaska is Suing the US over this issue. Apparently trends mean nothing when predicting the future when it comes to the "green" movement.

I'm not worried as the Polar Bear numbers continue to increase. That, and considering that Mother Nature will cool and warm as she pleases and the ice will freeze and melt accordingly. The bears will continue to be fine.

They have been shrinking (and expanding) for long, long time. Imagine what it was like when the edge of the polar ice cap was down past salina (That would give a whole another meaning to Northern Baseball.
). Was that a good thing that the ice cap had shrank?
