I sure hope Murphy does it right and has success. I hope he puts in two coasters right away. And quality coasters at that. No Joyland type crap.

Now, now Sub... the Joyland coaster is an old classic. I have a lot of fond memories looking at mammaries on and around the coaster.

Seriously, at one time the Joyland wooden coaster was second to none... of course that would be the in the early 60's and 70's... things have advance considerably since.

Look what I found... take a ride back in history:

I have nothing against Joyland, but that coaster is not something you can build a park around today. You have to have something that will attract the thrill seekers out there. Something that will make them want to come back again and again.

I'd have no problem with them adding at some point a "simpler" coaster that may appeal to those with weaker stomachs, but that would have to come later.

The simple fact is that people will travel for a good coaster. Most of us would travel to Tehran if we knew there was a top notch coaster there.

I just hope this guy does it right as I've thought for years that Wichita needed a Theme Park of some kind. I do think we can support one if it's done right. And one done right will also bring in others to spend more money into the local economy.

If they are quality coasters that increases the chance of success at the park by a ton. I wonder just how quality of coasters a guy in the carnival business can buy though. I wonder what kind of budget he is going to be working with..

Good questions. He sounds committed. I'm hopeful.

Understand his plan is not for a theme park but rather an amusement park (i.e. carnival on steroids) with limited hours. Good business plan if you ask me.

Don't set yourself up that much. My bet is the coasters aren't gonna be quite as good as the ones you'll be enjoying without us in Florida.

If you check out the bottom of the page you see the coaster they currently have. It was built in Maize, and several years ago I had the opportunity to ride on it. It was fun once.

It will take a while before we get a destination coaster, but more than a possibility.

Those kinda rides scream 'carnival' not 'theme park'. But then again, this is Wichita, so that's what I'd expect.

The Zyklon is a setup, teardown, setup, teardown, ride. It barely counts as a roller coaster. I would hope that any permanent coaster built out at WWW (or whatever it will be called), is at least twice that size.

If not it's going to fail.
