This thing is going to be nuts. And nearly twice as much rainfall is expected for the next three days. Prayers for the people physically in the path off this storm and for the people with property in the way of this storm.

two friends of mine recently retired and moved to Texas. The one who lives in galveston was already in Wichita. He decided to stay an extra week or two. He said today that the water was only up to the first step going to his deck, so he's in good shape.

My other friend lives in Corpus Christi. He decided to stay in Corpus and ride it out. As of Friday morning he was doing fine. No one seems to have heard from him since then.

Shocker Men's Basketball Helping Out in a Small Way:

Coach Kelvin Sampson asks basketball coaches at all levels around the world to donate t-shirts & shoes to distribute to those in need from Hurricane Harvey.

Shocks have had their share of Houston area athletes in the Shocker fold. A lot of connections in the Houston area. That storm has just been locked in on that Houston area and the amount of rain they are dealing with is mind-boggling.

My thoughts and prayers to all our Shocker family and to everyone in Houston and the gulf coast area.

That dumbass mayor that decided not to evacuate Houston is just lucky he ain't a Republican. If he was, the media would be crucifyin him.

Houstonian here. The mayor and county judge made a wise decisoin and lives were saved because of it. All of Houston attempted to evacuate from hurricane Rita and it was a disaster, with many people dying with no flooding. If all of those people had been stuck on the roads attempting to evacuate Harvey, thousands would be dead.

I'm so saddened to hear this. I pray that he does turn up.

Houston's mayor said that it's impossible to evacuate 6.5 million people. There's just no way to get that many people out of a town. He might be right. Several years ago an evacuation order was issued and something like 5 people died attempting to evacuate. They didn't die because they were caught in the storm. They died because they got caught in the evacuation. Mainly from heat stroke.

This storm doesn't like our new conference. First Houston. Then it's going to affect New Orleans. It will still be raining enough to cause flooding when it's projected to hit Memphis on its way to Cincinnati.

You know I'm mostly on your side. I agree that the media probably would have crucified the decision if he were a Republican, but the only mistake I think he made was not evacuating the sick and assisted living etc homes. Nobody knows where they were going to go, and the potential problems were no better or worse than staying put (for those non ill etc).

And I'm sick of Fox trying to bring it up to everyone they interview. How about stop being part of the problem and maybe raise some money for these folks? The brave and patriotic people of Texas are showing the rest of the country what America really is, imho.

No matter which way he went the mayor was going to be criticized. No win situation. And by the way, he's only the Mayor of Houston. What about all the other burgs from Corpus Christi to Beaumont. As I said, no win. Why must people always play the blame game? Why politicize a natural disaster?
