  • WICHITA FLAG 'City Pride'

I thought this topic deserved its own thread. I’m doing my part to eliminate the ‘inferiority complex’ Wichita has been trying to shed forever… it appears progress is being made. Follow “WichitaFlag” on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

“Boosting civic pride since 1937 as the official flag of the city of Wichita.”

I'm glad Wichita is doing things like this. Many of us know what a treasure Wichita really is, and outsiders can't even comprehend. Take for instance, the owner of Ruben's grill in Delano getting shot, then see how local business have responded to help. Hats off to Picasso's, Tanya's, Aeroplane's, the Monarch, and all who stepped up. These are the things hidden from outsiders that make Wichita an absolute gem.

I don't understand why they chose the KKK emblem inside the Japanese rising sun.

                    Are you shittin' us?

'The city's flag, designed by C. Cecil McAlister, symbolizes the Indian word "Wichita," meaning "scattered lodges." It features a white circle, representing home, a blue sun for happiness, red stripes signifying honor and white stripes for courage. Together, the symbols mean that people are free to come and go.'

Wichita ? f you can find one, run it up the pole, and know that quite a few people who are interested in flags think Wichita's is one of the best.Though infrequently seen in its hometown, the Wichita city flag was a top finisher in an Internet contest run by people who study flags.

There are some terrific people in Wichita, the best people I have ever met. There is a lot to like about it. It is my hometown, but it is a great place to be from. No economic growth to speak of, multiple ethnic/economic ghettos, crappy public schools, and a violent crime rate 2.5 times the national median. Good on those of you sticking around and trying to make a difference, but I'd rather live somewhere where neighboring businesses didn't have to pitch in to cover for a business owner that got shot.

And with that, I'm out. The negativity here isn't healthy.

They didn't have to... They chose to help. That is the kind of spirit that makes Wichita great. When someone gets knocked down, you help them back up. Wichita is not perfect but, damn it, we're working on it. :tennis:
