What a great week of golf and fun and activities. I once again got to help ShoxMVC at the tournament this year. What a great golf spectacular. Great crowds, weather was dicey at times but Sunday was great. A young man of 20 years of age fresh out of Oregon University won it all and led from start to finish which was the first time this has happened in the Wichita tour. Aaron Wise jumped out and never looked back. It was surprising because he missed the previous two cuts to even play. Seems to be a very nice young man. Mike and Shox do the live broadcast and do a great job. He also handles the media center which coordinates local and pga media folks. High light of the whole week was during the presentation to the champion our own Gregg Marshall was there and had the distinction of playing with the champion in the pro am earlier in the week held at Crestview. What made it funny was because he was also partnered with last years champion in that years pro am. Coach Marshall's entourage included Shocker greats Cheese Johnson, Aubrey Sherrod and the X Man. I introduced myself to Cheese and he was very gracious and asked if I knew who the other two were. One of the assistant coaches took my phone and took our picture together. Then Cheese asked if I knew who the guy standing off to one side was (Coach Marshall) and I said yeah he looks like Lynn Marshalls husband. He busted out laughing. Had my picture taken with Cheese and Coach Marshall as well. Coach Marshall then told of a young man in today for a visit and said he was impressed but apparently the visitors father was more impressed and said "This is the place I want to be" All in all a great time and also a great event for the city of Wichita to showcase each year with the help of great sponsors and hundreds of volunteers. Well done Wichita.

Forgot to mention two volunteers that I met this Weekend. Golfer Taryn Torgerson who also helped out with the Envision folks as they hosted some sight challenged youngsters at the event as several played several holes of golf. Also Softball player Morgan Palmer that is majoring in Sports Mgmnt. Both represented our university well as do all of our student athletes.Last edited by pogo; June 19, 2017, 08:52 AM.

I echo all that Pogo shared. Pogo is very humble as his participation and invaluable help in the media center helps create the specialness this event brings to our great city. I feel honored to be involved in this community endeavor for all of its 28 years. It brings in approximately 6 million dollars to our local merchants. We have raised over $600K for local charities since 2012. I hope many of you got out to Crestview to watch the major champions of tomorrow. It was the 28th consecutive year Kennedy and I have brought golf to Wichita radio. I know, golf on radio, but we try and make it entertaining. Thanks again Pogo. I couldn't do it without you.
