Did anyone see the video Mark Adams posted of Usain Bolt's interview. By her accent, the lady interviewing him was not American. He's standing there with his Jamaica track jersey and flag hanging around his neck, and the US National Anthem started playing in the background. The lady kept talking. He told her to stop, National Anthem and turned toward where the Anthem was being played until it was over, then turned back to her and resumed the interview. I thought it was a pretty class act.

Bolt appears to be a good guy. He has every reason in the world to be super arrogant and standoffish, but doesn't appear to be that way.

American Abbey D'Agostino was in the back of the lead pack when the New Zealand runner ahead of her got her feet tangled and fell.

Abbey tried to miss but in stepping over, severely extended her knee to the side.

Still, she stopped to help the other runner to her feet, and then realized she was hurt as well. She tried to start running and winced in pain, tried again and collapsed.

And I mean fell hard in terrible pain and encouraged the other runner to go on without her.

SOMEHOW she managed to get to her feet and begin running again to finish.

Not, mind you, the rest of the lap (this happened on the backstretch) but the final 5+ laps.

Unreal heart and courage from the American.

In better news, her coach filed a protest and it was granted, sending her on to the finals.

In worse news, her coach intimated that while they are awaiting MRI results, he fears the injury is catastrophic and that she will not compete further.

        Truly, the Olympic Spirit.
THE moment of the Olympics, without question.

To no one's surprise, Abbey is done. A complete tear of her ACL, sprained MCL and a meniscus tear, her road back to normalcy, much less top flight distance running will be long and painful.

But the courage she showed, running over a mile with that injury after trying to help her fellow runner, will be a memory never forgotten.

Abbey D'Agostino out of the 5000 Final.

US women are way more better at water polo than the US men.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I used to play youth water polo. I started in a YMCA league but quickly advanced and made it onto a select team. Lots of travel, it is what my family did on weekends. I made the high school water polo team as a freshman and lettered all four years. My senior year, I suffered a devastating finger Web injury that probably kept me from playing collegiate water polo. Until that, I was P-5 water polo material.

I'm a big fan of the Chicago Sturgeon of the NWPL. I wish there was a minor league water polo team to follow in Omaha, instead, I have to drive to Des Moines to watch the Urbandale Jellyfish of the Central Water Polo League (CWPL). I know it's minor league, but it's better water polo than you would think and I get my water polo fix.

Anyone hear anymore news on the expansion team from KC? I hear they have a name, the Flounders. Good name.

Sometimes, I wonder which is more sad. That you wrote that. Or that after the first sentence, I finished reading it.

Brazilians not letting our swimmers come home because they think they lied about being robbed at gun point. Strange.

                                Three words, Kari Walsh Jennings.

                                THAT is all!
