If I lived in Wichita, which I don't, I'd like to see year round fireworks stands on every street corner.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Last night was Final Friday, so that probably helped pump up the activity outside of the Old Town zone. The Delano district was busy in the early evening hours last night.

        This is impressive to me...

Riverfest sees continued rise in attendance

        P.S. Maybe 600,000 attendance in 10 years?

Within the next 10 years, I hope to see Wichita in my rear view mirror one last time. I didn't get any of the great Brownback giveaway, and I'd rather not be here when the bills for that come due.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

You and I are about the same age so our next move may be to the great beyond. :)

That's NOT what I want to see, from either of you, in the next 10 years....or more.

This would be a very positive development. It's been interesting to see the revitalization of downtown. In the past, it's been kind of under the radar, but it definitely seems to be gaining momentum.

"A new Lawrence-Dumont Stadium – everything new except the light standards. Double-A baseball by 2019, with the San Antonio Missions moving to town. A professional soccer stadium. An interactive downtown museum celebrating Wichita’s deep baseball heritage, emphasizing 81 years of the resurgent National Baseball Congress."

This is the first time that I've heard discussion of building a "professional soccer stadium" in Wichita. I wonder what is driving this? I wonder if this is for FC Wichita or is something else in the works? Might be a good place for Shocker Soccer games, if WSU were to add NCAA soccer.

I don't mind these things as long as A) they get voted on and B) the taxes go away.

If you don't know, hotels STILL collect an extra tax intended to fund the Lawrence Dumont renovations....2 renovations ago!

The sunset clauses MUST be air tight and no opportunity to revoke including some bizarre "we have to vote to end it" crap.

                        Update!
#1 won't happen but at least Cargill is staying downtown (by the way I stand corrected, it was Shawn Colvin who sang that song; not Paula Cole)

Nice to see the possibility of #4 point coming to fruition.

A link to Shawn Colvin's song, "Wichita Skyline." She played the song the last time she was here a year or three ago at the Orpheum with Mary Chaplin Carpenter. A good concert.
