  • Man overcomes odds to realize dream of graduating college (WSU)

If this isn't a 'feel good' story, I'm not sure what is?

Stuff like this always makes me think of the line from Hail, Wichita: Brave spirits never fail
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

He ran from Target to WSU to go to class? There's a guy that has no idea how to quit. Well done young man!

This is the kind of story that doesn't happen at universities that like to brag about low acceptance rates and high barriers to academic entry. This is part of the reason why WSU exists (I'd argue that should be the case at ALL public universities), and if the academic high brows like to look down on us for it then fook 'em. Higher education shouldn't be all about pumping out suburban emo's with 3.25 GPA liberal arts degrees.

More like suburban emo hipsters. I do like your "suburban emo" - that is a line worthy of meme creation!

I thought of Will Smith from "The Pursuit of Happyness" when I heard this. He said he looked over at WSU and saw that the students seemed so happy. I am glad that he could finally have some of his own happiness.

Good for him! This Shocker grad welcomes you to the fold!

Congratulations, Josh. Yes, Virginia. Character counts.
