  • Convicted Without Trial

Take a few minutes to read the short article about Mike Pressler, the former head coach of Duke University's lacrosse team. His story has lessons for all of us.

"Adversity doesn't build character," he says. "It reveals it."

Great story, thanks for posting it. Reading it made me think it will be a movie someday.

Crystal Mangum, the woman who accused three Duke lacrosse players of rape, now says she lied about the encounter

""Crystal Mangum, the former exotic dancer who accused three Duke men’s lacrosse players of rape in 2006, igniting a national firestorm, now says she lied about the encounter. “I testified falsely against them by saying that they raped me when they didn’t, and that was wrong. And I betrayed the trust of a lot of other people who believed in me,” Mangum said on the web show “Let’s Talk with Kat,” hosted by Katerena DePasquale.

The interview took place at the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, where Mangum is serving time for a 2013 second-degree murder conviction for stabbing her boyfriend. “I made up a story that wasn’t true because I wanted validation from people and not from God,” Mangum said...."

A group of 88 Duke professors took out an ad in April of that year in the student newspaper, strongly insinuating without evidence that the players were guilty of racism, sexism, and rape, and saying they (the professors) were listening as the community shared their stories of feeling targeted based on their race/sex.

Better late than never. Should I hold my breath waiting for a mea culpa from these 88 Duke Pukes? I'm thinking not.

Of course not, because their intentions were good. Outcomes mean nothing.
