My wife dragged me out to Nebraska Furniture Mart today. I broke a vase 15 minutes in. I've been here two Flippin hours. I hate this place.
God help me.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
Just remember, your dear friend and fellow Omahan, Warren Buffet, owns Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Oh, and if you have sub-standard credit, don't buy anything on time from him, you'll need a blood transfusion after you're through :)
I hate this place for many reasons, Warren is one of them.

Not big enough. I'm camped out on a recliner. My feet hurt and the sales people won't leave me the hell alone. Merry ****ing Christmas.

I live 10 minutes from the NFM in KC. Lewis and Clark would get lost in that place. Zero interest in going to that place. A voyage to Mars and back would be quicker and less stressful...
How 'bout this ugly **** from the 70's? Three grand and it's yours!

In any other city, you can go to your choice of furniture stores. Not here... Yeah, there are a few specialty furniture stores, but if you want to buy a quality recliner, mattress or sectional, it's NFM or nothing. And those bastards know it! We're buying new living room furniture... oh wait, my wife is buying new living room furniture.
I think it might be a better deal for me to simply park myself in a recliner, grab a pocket knife, dig out a kidney and hand it to Warren.

My GF's favorite store here in Houston is Star. Also owned by Warren Buffet. I don't have to pay for her furniture, though. :). My furniture is 'early American disaster'. I've decided I'm not going to replace it until I retire. Then I'll buy a whole house full based on whether I keep my present home, or sell it and pocket some of the proceeds and move elsewhere.

Believe it or not, the NFM in Omaha is bigger than the KC one, like lots, over multiple buildings plus warehouses that could double as aircraft production plants. Not near as nice looking from the outside though.
Wife and I have bought most of our furniture big purchases from NFM over the years. It is worlds better than shopping in Wichita at Furniture Row, Ashley, Slumberland, or wherever. You can get cheap s#&% at NFM, high-brow stuff, and everything in-between. And they easily negotiate down on price.

I'm home, several thousand dollars poorer. NFM sucks. And my wife better tonight, too. We stayed in the main building, looking at sofas, love seats and chairs. We bought matching sofa, love seat and recliner, bought two overstuffed chairs and a couple end tables. I don't know if the overall size of NFM is bigger in Omaha, KC, Des Moines or Dallas, but I do know they are all too freaking big. And they suck.

This Is kind of on this subject. Where would locals in Wichita suggest shopping for furniture. We bought new black/grey furniture (couch, loveseat, recliner) for our living room when we built our house in 2002. I think we got it at Furniture Row, but my memory is old, so I'm not 100%sure. Anyway, we've been very happy with all of it. The couch and loveseat are still in great condition, but the recliner is finally about to reach the end of it's life cycle. Where is the best place here in ICT to go shop for a new recliner, and possibly a new living room set?

Hey, at least your furniture is good. I'm using vegetable crates and pallets here. :)

Not to shamelessly promote a Shocker supporter but we've been happy with what we've bought from Ashley's.
