  • Help w/Downtown Bar/Restaurant

We have a meeting in town this week with a free evening and I figure we might just go somewhere to watch the Royals. Where would a good place be to go downtown (we'll be downtown for the meeting) to watch? I really don't go downtown much, I was probably last at Heroe's 5 years ago...

Depending on the evening, you might want to check out the link below. I've always enjoyed Heroes, The Anchor, River City Brewery (hopefully they've upgraded their TV's) and Old Chicago Old Town; I'm sure others will have additional recommendations.

Really depends on the night honestly. I would definitely suggest pumphouse as a place to go. THey've been advertising pretty hard lately as a Royals watchspot.

It'll be Wednesday night if that makes a difference. Thanks for the suggestions, in thinking back I believe it was during Automobilia 2005 that I actually set foot in a restaurant downtown. :)

I concur with ASM's suggestion; the Pumphouse is a good choice. You should be able to watch Royals (7:10 pm) and Ron Baker and company (8:00 pm CST) in the Pan American Games.

I only asked which night because of crowds etc. Pumphouse will have a nice set up towards the back that you and your group can get in and all sit together and have your meeting plus back there they have multiple TV's as brought up above you can watch both games
You wont have to worry about a ton of obnoxious people there as well which will be nice. most of the crowds on Wednesday stay further south in OldTown

Heroes has $2 Coors/Miller Lites on Wednesday along with $3 Jack Daniels (which is always great) Food is much better than Pumphouse and it won't be crowded.

Anchor is NOT a good place to watch anything. I think there's one TV in the joint. It's not a sports bar and they're not ashamed to admit that. You go there to eat pretty good food and indulge in some quality beer.
