  • 2015 U.S. Open Conversation

Call me old fashion, but I hate Chambers Bay as a U.S. Open venue. We already have a major called the British Open that plays links style golf. The U.S. Open should be played on a tree-lined course with skinny fairways, graduated rough and fast greens.

How is Fox doing so far? Ehh...not Fox's fault you can't visually track balls on the green. Poana and fescue just aren't condusive to beauty. I do like the ball tracer however. Leave the goofy camera angles on the production room floor. Give me Dan Hicks, Johnny Miller and company any day over Joe Buck and Greg Norman. Curt Menefee is awful. I'm not a fan of Tom Weiskopf. I like Julie Inkster and Cory Pavin is tolerable.

How many golfers will shoot better than 80 today and say the beat Tiger's score. How about the cole-top 3-wood on 18 yesterday. He was unwatchable...but as he said "I beat the $/?!" Out of Rickie Fowler.

And yet, we're still talking about him. Isn't he dreamy?! I'm still waiting for the comeback. I need to fly out and watch that guy play again, right after they hang Tekele's jersey up in the rafters at Koch.

      Hahahaha
He won't be making a comeback. His swing is so violent that he's shaken his body to pieces. Look at other guys who hit the ball a mile (McIlroy, Fowler, Spieth), and you see what looks like a much more effortless swing. That will translate into longevity.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

You don't know anything. He's coming back. He's ... coming ... back. SHUT UP!! Don't ruin it for me. He's ... he's just ... he's just having ... a ... a ... bit of a reeeeeal long Tin Cup moment. You'll see. Let's just change the subject over to, ummm, anything else.

        You'll see.

        He can make this shot!!!!

I like watching links golf. I'll get up early to watch The Open. I like US Open rough too. I wonder if Chambers Bay will get another major in my lifetime.

FOX coverage sucks. They should have stuck to football and Big East basketball. You can't screw up football and nobody cares about BE basketball.

Tiger's head has got to be in a strange place. He needs to remember Earl's last words, "Tiger, concentrate on golf and screw everything else".

His 15th club sure has been working overtime since papa Tiger's death, that's for sure.

I'm torn about Chambers Bay. To say that the US Open should always be tree lined and graduated rough doesn't show the vast differences in courses in the United States. I like seeing the different types courses. However, the condition of this course is brutal. I heard on Monday that they'd be putting on dirt by Sunday. That's not golf, I don't care what part of the country you're in. I think Chambers Bay could be a beautiful course, but it's not made to handle a tournament like this. I can't comment much on the coverage as I don't have the volume up. The crew they have covering it is somewhat a strange crew once they added Brad Faxon and a bunch of other older players that haven't won much, save Corey Pavin.

I like Faxon and Flesch, they present a fun personality. In covering golf, you must have a good balance of reporting facts and entertaining the audience with wit and humor.

Jason Day off to a good start at even-par after 3 holes. He suffered vertigo and had feinting spells late in yesterday's round.

Faxon and Flesch may be good but where in the world did they come up with them? Did they go through an old PGA Tour roster and throw darts at them? Natalie Gulbis and Holly Saunders I get, Julie Inkster could provide some interesting information as well as a former US Open winner. But Faxon and Flesch? It's like they said, "we'd like some PGA Tour players, but we don't want to pay anyone very famous."
