My son's summer baseball team practices twice a week. We started in late April. I've now cancelled three - or is it four - of those practices due to rain.
ive lived in Houston for 18 years and I don think I've ever seen a larger flash flood watch area than the one for this weekend. From Brownsville, Texas up to Wichita. That's a huge area where they're calling for potentially heavy rain. They're saying that we might have isolated areas get eight inches of rain over the next three days.
Thanks SBShock that's a nice blog with a lot of good info. It would be nice if we had the 'thanks for this post ' feature on the mobile platform so I wouldn't have to make a post to thank you for it.
This rain has made one heck of a dent in the drought our state has been experiencing. Here's a recent comparison from NWS-ICT
Of course we still need the water table recharged so more rain is needed, preferably in a more restrained manner but I'll take what I can get. My family farm ground in Sumner, Harper & Barber counties are still moderate to severe inspite of this rain.
The areas around us50 west of hutch have had standing water for a month now. Hopefully that is helping the groundwater table. Also, farmers shouldn't have to irrigate much for a while.
