    This is a problem going all the way back to HS. "Getting your bell rung" was a bit of a joke. It just meant you didn't know what was going on for a while.

    I remember an All-State running back out of my HS who didn't know his name, what town he was in, or why he was there. What did the coaches do? They started teaching him the names of plays and what he did when the play was called. Then they put him back in the game.

    Once the facts and the evidence get out to the public, and liabilities start getting evaluated, it could create a real problem. There's virtually no way that equipment or rules can prevent football concussions. So, what do you do when the cash cow that drives college athletics becomes known as something that destroys a lot of lives?

    Concussions don't destroy lives immediately, so it's been easy to ignore the problem.

    We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
