That is a cool red racing stripe on the side of that Hilux!
An “Old West” Texas analysis and summary of Mueller report and Congress’ efforts in one sentence:

"While we recognize that the subject did not actually steal any horses, he is obviously guilty of trying to resist being hanged for it."

A larger consequence of all this is that it further supports the belief that the US is losing credibility throughout the world. As credibility wanes, risks increase.
I'm not sure as a country we've experienced such disdain from our enemies or puzzlement from our allies since the period between 1977-1981.

Drove through Hailey today. Every building on mainstreet has "FINALLY! BOWE IS HOME" signs on the front of the businesses with many sporting 5-6 signs and or banners. Things have backed off considerably since the news of his release went through the town.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

A story in Stars & Stripes on desertion. I like Ike's approach.

A CNN story with a snippet from Gen. McCrystal with whom I agree. Get our person back, the questions related to the swap are legitimate, and then proceed based on the findings of the investigation. http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/04/us/7-q...html?hpt=hp_c2

Because of this Bergdahl matter and the outrage of a friend and several acquaintances close to the matter I have fascinated by this issue of desertion and treason. In a cursory review I have found out that WWII, the Germans used British POW's as a "British Free Corps" and there are not only instances of American's fighting for German and Japanese units but also an American unit similar to the British Free Corps. Our British cousins prosecuted participants in the British Free Corps for desertion and treason. Oddly enough, we Yanks did not even conduct an investigation. I suspect this is because we were busy with the Russians and the fact that the OSS and US Army Military Intelligence was busy rewriting folks personnel histories to de-Nazify their pasts. This rewrite was in direct violation of US law. Scientists and SS, Abwehr agents that were useful all had their pasts rewritten.

Not to mention Japanese Unit 731 who had no one tried for war crimes, yet did equally or more horrible things than Mengele for the Nazis.

My take is that this was a desperate ploy on Obama's part to protect his ego image and his horrendous legacy by attempting to turn the tide away from his and Hillary's unconscionable actions of not coming to the aid of our people in Benghazi. A position the democrats have to turn around if they hope to have any chance in retaining the senate in 2014 and crucial to Hillary's presidential bid in 2016.

Like just about everything else the POTUS and his most ill informed and amaturish advisors have done, their haste led to not apparently even knowing that their so called hero was a deserter. And once again, the good looking, but never well informed, Susan Rice was left hanging out to dry. Even General Dempsey, our esteemed military leader (and from all appearances just another one of our generals/flag officers left today who appears to be scared to death of being fired) was unaware of the desertion.

I wish to hell we could say that at least this time it did not or will not cost any American lives, but this would be a complete fallacy, like the poor excuse of the actor occupying the most honored and esteemed Office of the President of these United States.

I really haven't been paying attention to all the happening or of the Military's decision, so if anyone has a link, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, I guess it's just Google for me.

Edit: Well, I found one thing. This is not the first time he's tried to or has actually gone AWOL.

Some might say it was to try and divert attention from the VA fiasco (and criminal actions?) - but with all things with this administration their incompetence shines through.
