  • Beer Available in ICT

I'll be coming up to Wichita in a couple of weeks for my niece's graduation. Am wondering if anything from Nebraska Brewing Company is available in town and if so, where? I plan on going to Goebel Liquor (Rob's World of Beers) while in town, but according to their website they don't carry it.

Also, aside from Hoppin' Frog, Free State and Tallgrass, what other notable breweries distribute in Wichita that may not distribute here in Texas?

I gather that you are mainly looking for the places that distribute so you can buy and take with you, but are you also interested in just the craft beer brewpubs that are worth a visit?

Other than Tallgrass and Free State, one other comes to mind for me.

Gosh, I hope some of you have heard of this place and actually made a visit because its a fun trip for a beer drinker.

It's called Weston Brewing Company and its basically around the Atchison/St. Joseph, MO area... North of KC.

I do believe I've seen a line or two from them at Jacob's liquor in Wichita.

This is a correct assumption. I won't be in for long, and the time that is spent will be with family so I probably won't make it out to any brewpubs or bars. I saw on Goebel's website that they sell Weston

Basically, if it's available in Kansas, Rob's will have it. There are just a couple of exceptions due to a Kansas distributor not making it available in Wichita (last I knew, Lagunitas being one). Either Rob or John will be happy to help.

Defiance Brewing Company out of Hays, KS can be found in Wichita. Their session IPA is the only one I've tried, but when poured in a glass I very much enjoyed it. Empyrean out of Lincoln, NE also has lots of tasty options. I like their ESB, Vanilla Porter, and IPA.

That's all that's coming to mind as far as something in bottles/cans you could take back other than Tallgrass (love 'em) and Free State (life's too short to drink this). If I think of more I'll be sure to share. Sorry you won't be able to visit River City or WBC!

Thanks, I am trying to complete a challenge of trying one beer from each state and Nebraska is one state that I hadn't completed yet. I will give Empyrean a try. It appears that I'll be able to pick up something from 4 states I have yet to complete: Ohio, Indiana, Nebraska, South Carolina.

If you are serious, and want to try one beer from every state, and you need Nebraska to complete the task, and you want quality, hold out for Lucky Bucket Certified Evil. Nebraska doesn't turn out very many good craft beers, but this **** is awesome!

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I am very serious. My goal is to complete the quest in 2014 and I have completed 34 states so far. I'll add Lucky Bucket to the wish list, and if I can't get it in 2014 I'll definitely look to get it in the future. I am also open to trading for beers if you have access to it.

I live in Omaha and don't know if this beer is available in Ks. I don't like most of what Lucky Bucket offers, but Certified Evil is the real deal. My problem with craft brews, and I am always trying new beers, is that I firmly believe each one should be unique, while all too often, that is not the case. Craft brews, in my opinion, should have a risk factor. Somebody should have gone out on the ledge and tried something new and different. Anymore, you have a choice of 200 IPA's and they all taste about the same. No risk, nothing new, just a run of the mill beer served in an overpriced fancy bottle. They should just rename them Budweiser IPA! Most of Lucky Bucket varieties fits that mold. Certified Evil doesn't. It is a Belgian dark with a light finish. It is also aged in used wine casks. Certified Evil is what a craftbeer should be, edgy, risky and different. And good!

SeekABrew is a pretty good resource for seeing which breweries distribute in which states. It would appear that Lucky Bucket does not distribute in KS. Empyrean does though.

If it wasn't illegal, I'd ship you a four pack. I've heard of people shipping the stuff UPS and FedEx, but whatever.
