  • Ken Landwehr, who helped catch BTK, dies at 59

    Ken Landwehr, the Wichita police commander who helped solve the BTK serial-killer case and many other Wichita homicides, died Monday. He was 59.

    Landwehr had battled kidney cancer since shortly before he retired in 2012 from the Wichita Police Department. He commanded the department’s homicide unit for 20 years and led the task force that captured serial killer Dennis Rader – known as BTK – in 2005.

    Played in his golf tournament the pat 2 years. Talk about persistency and never giving up. RIP Kenny.

        Not sure where the best place to post this is, but it's an interesting piece written by a criminologist about BTK. That is one scary dude.

        Psychopaths operate in a totally different moral universe. In the case of Dennis Rader, aka 'BTK', he had almost perfected his disguise, even helping the police officer who was assigned to catch him, after he had been employed as a local compliance officer

          One of my close personal friends, who is a legend poster on this very board, was linked to this case back in the 70's.

          One of the victims was his secretary. Out of privacy I will not name names if he is interested he can come forward on his own.
          An “Old West” Texas analysis and summary of Mueller report and Congress’ efforts in one sentence:

          "While we recognize that the subject did not actually steal any horses, he is obviously guilty of trying to resist being hanged for it."
