Losing Flowers was brutal, he at least could have stayed in the same zip code as Hilton. No running presence in the second half giving Colts the time on the play clock to come back. Wow.

Not a Chiefs fan at all, but I really feel for them and the fans today. I don't know that I can say they deserved to win, but they deserved a better fate in a chance to win.

Still, Chief's fans have much to be proud of and the future seems to be pointing up. Really nice turnaround from last year.

You have to wonder what Chiefs did way back to piss off the football gods....

It makes you wonder doesn't it.

1. Indy fumble at the goal line that just happens to bounce into the QB arms and he runs for a TD.
2. Smith if he just protects the football when the pocket collapses - Chiefs probably get some points instead of Indy TD
3. Smith misses a sure TD on broken indy coverage.
4. Half the starters for the Chiefs go down with injuries.

Change one thing here or let them have charles and they probably win...

No. Jan Stenerud missing a fielf goal against Miami in what was then the longest game in NFL history in the AFL/AFC championship game against Miami in KC im the old stadium was the worst.

Montana getting his bell rung in Buffalo in the AFCchampionship game 20 years ago and the last playoff victory was the second...

This one might pass the Linn Elliot loss to the Colts in KC as number three.

Are you talking about for the season or for the game? I don't think of the 22 starters that 11 were injured during the game.

Not a fan of Chiefs but want to congratulate them on a good season. Going from a 2 win season to 11 win season and making playoffs is something to be proud of.

An exaggeration, but during the game they lost Jamaal Charles, Brandon Flowers, Knile Davis, Huston, Avery, and I think one other whose name escapes me. Lots of key players went down as the game went on.

Broncos fan coming in peace. I too was very impressed with Reid and the turnaround this year. KC has tremendous fans and they sure deserved better than the product put out on the field the past couple of seasons. Despite the loss today you sure have plenty to celebrate.

Chiefs should be very happy for the season they had. They'd weren't going to go from two wins to the Superbowl in the one season, and getting to the playoffs was the first step. Yes, 11 wins made them look like a team that should have performed in the playoffs, but the record reflects the weak schedule. The way they finished the season shows they have at least a couple more steps to make. They need more targets for Smith and a lot of improvement in the secondary to compete against great teams, and those deficiencies cost them against the Chargers, the Colts, and the Broncos.

A good offseason could make this team a contender in a few years. While it is disappointing they did not break the playoff losing streak, the Chiefs are still way ahead of where they should be at this point. The 9-0 start was misleading and raised expectations, but the reality is that beginning the season the Chiefs were not expected to be a playoff team. They are still ahead of schedule.

So next year when we are not "ahead of schedule" we will have a 35 point lead in the Wild Card Round instead of 28?

I don't mean to sound cold, calloused or unappreciative of the consolations, but in the end there is not way to sugar-coat it. The Chiefs are a historically bad playoff franchise in the last 20 years.

Dennis Dodd had some good points on twitter....How does the franchise re-build from this? How can they say, oh things will be better next year, or so much promise to look forward to next year! Things are going to be more promising or better than a 28 point lead in the 3rd quarter? Good luck selling that front office.

The franchise doesn't have to rebuild. They just build on it. They rebuilt this year, and rebuilt well IMO. They have a good QB, a good 1 and 2 rb, a good WR, a good FB, and a decent line. The D just needs some tweaks. Jackson Poe catapono, coop smith flowers, berry Abdullah, Johnson Houston hali. All good. No rebuild.
