Here's a novel idea, the NFL just needs to go to the Native American people and their leaders and ask them if they want it changed. A poll a few years back showed 9 out of 10 Native Americans were not offended by the name. If the Native Americans have a consensus to keep the name, its own leaders need to go public and tell everyone they're okay with the name so the cancel culture mob can shut the F up.

You missed the memo on current cultural norms:

It matters not at all what a given affected group feels about a particular issue. All that matters is the opinion of the progressive white elite gatekeepers who have knighted as themselves collectively as the spokespersons on behalf of the aforementioned affected groups. Kinda like old school racism, but more evolved and virtuous and stuff.

Only Elizabeth Warren should be allowed to speak about the outrage of the Redskins name...oh wait a minute...

How much of a bloodline does a person need to have to vote in this poll? Supposedly 5 million Native Americans but it depends on each tribe if they are allowed to register with 5% blood or a 25% bloodline. The large majority of Native Americans are no longer living on tribal grounds and are assimilate into American culture. Only a small number really are concerned about this issue. They like almost everybody dislikes racism but this issue isn’t at the top of their list.

It's purely a political move to cause fake outrage by a group of non-native politicians to make themselves look good. It's the continuation of cancel culture, IMO.

If I’m living on a reservation, I garuntee I wouldn’t got two shits about what some football team in Washington had as a moniker.

Now maybe if I’m an elitist, racist, authoritarian white person...

Chiefs should change their name also. Maybe in honor of Ft. Riley, the Kansas City Calvary. Have their flag be the 7th Calvary.

                    • I believe this is the proper thing to do. This mascot is derogatory in nature, the others? Not so much.

No one will know what a Native American is, what a slave was, what the mistakes of the Confederate were, or how this country even became a country, What a novel concept.
