The devastation is unbelievable. Add together 1999, Andover and Joplin, and it's still going to be less than this tragedy. I'm watching it, and I can't believe it's real.

Let's all pray that you are wrong about this, Doc. Joplin is the only tornado in the top 25 deadliest since 1955. It sits at #7 with 158 deaths. Add to this the 1999 Moore tornado and you are talking over 200.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to say I was referring to the dollar amount of the devastation and not the lives lost. I also pray we see no more souls lost due to this horrific tragedy.

Right now they're saying it's an EF-4, but could go to an EF-5. I'm guessing it ends up being an EF-5, but I don't think the winds will end up as powerful as the May 3, 1999 tornado that had winds clocked at 317 mph.

That number was revised down this morning to 24 dead and I read a statement on twitter that some may have been counted multiple times. Also, while The Weather Channel last night, one public official (perhaps the Mayor of Moore, I don't recall) said that several children from the Plaza Towers school were found safe at nearby churches.

As a parent, I can't begin to imagine what these families have gone through and continue to go through. I know nobody has questioned this, but in reading about how the schools handled the situation, I don't disagree with anything that was done. For the safety of the students, teachers and parents, they absolutely did the right thing.

It was 36 mins from the first warning until the tornado reached Moore.

Where is the credit to the forecasters that saw, predicted, and issued the warnings? Instead people act like we live in the 50's when you literally did have no warning.

If you watched the coverage of the tornado on KFOR they explained all that about the Time cover.

Yeah - this was well forecasted and everybody had plenty of warning. Had it not - the death total would have been much higher.

Tornado watch issued a couple hours ahead of time. Tornado warning issue at 2:40pm, first damage at 3:16pm.

Technically they had about a 3 hour advanced notice when the tornado watch was issued to get prepared.
