  • I'm curious to see what Bardo's announcement has to do with the maker space that had been planned to be created inside the experiential engineering building. A special announcement from Liz Koch makes me think there might be even more coming from them in addition to the increadible contribution they made already for the space. Old link to what Koch already donated: http://www.wichita.edu/thisis/stories/story.asp?si=2696

      • Even though it was MSNBC, I'm a little surprised today's coverage didn't get more run here.

Interview with Chuck, Mika and Joe sporting sweet WSU apparel, Dr. Bardo discussing the Innovation Campus. Money can't buy that kind of coverage, even on MSNBC.

Oh yeah, asked Gregg about returning to the Final Four.

        • Really a great job by all involved showing WSU on a national stage. Airbus mention was very nice by the Pres. We are really fortunate to have Dr. Bardo and obviously GM at this great time at our university.

                • This morning felt like a paid advertisement for the Koch's and WSU, and on MSNBC no less.

It's a great day to be a Shocker.

                  • Just noticed this, guess KBOT approved in state tuition for Tulsa and OKC area kids beginning spring 2016. Thats like adding another 70% of Kansas population (little over 2 million between the two metros) who will be eligible for in state tuition. Hopefully that will help with growth.

Residents of the Tulsa and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas now can attend Wichita State University for the same cost as Kansas residents.

It wasn't mentioned in the article, but President Bardo wants to expand it to Dallas/Fort Worth.

I don't like this. The reason that in state tuition is supposed to be lower is because in state taxes help to fund it.

DFW area is 6.9 million people, Kansas total is 2.9. That would be huge if they could get in state tuition for DFW kids.

Also would be great for baseball as most baseball players only get partial scholarships or nothing at all. Heck adding Tulsa and OKC as in state tuition will be great for baseball.

Well if you want growth it needs to happen, limited pool of kids in Kansas.

                            • I thought it would be the entire states of Oklahoma and Texas affected by this, not just the OKC/Tulsa/DFW.

                              EDIT: Different program. Never mind.

Draw them in, maybe they stay. Voila, new taxpayers. Innovation Campus = new taxpayers and new industry.
